YCC Celebrates World Environment Day 2022

USAID’s Compass program’s Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) celebrated World Environment Day 2022 in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh on June 5. The YCC 1st and 2nd cohorts took part in different activities to increase public awareness regarding environmental issues in their communities.

The young trainees from YCC 2nd cohort organized beach cleaning, community rally, and social media campaign and distributed leaflets in their community containing environmental awareness information. Likewise, YCC 1st cohort youth network members conducted an awareness campaign at Bangla Bazar Model Girls High School, Cox’s Bazar. They distributed plants among 290 students of the school. Both cohorts prepared posters with environmental awareness messages and took photographs with those. All YCC trainees and alumni shared those pictures from their personal Facebook profiles mentioning #OnlyOneEarth, to express their solidarity and involvement in the global campaign for World Environment Day 2022.

YCC, a youth capacity building program of USAID’s Compass Program, has been providing life skills, natural resource management, and vocational training to underprivileged youths of Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban districts. Through various training and activities, YCC aims to empower these youths to become environmental stewards and lead environment conservation in their communities and beyond.
