CAPS leads Learning Visit – 2021

On December 19, 2021, the Department of Environmental Sciences, Stamford University Bangladesh, completed the Learning Visit – 2021 in order to achieve insight into various environmental factors such as air, sound, water, ecology, and land use and environmental change, as well as to assess the current state of the components and to collect material samples and gain practical knowledge.

The COMPASS Project of the US Forest Service and the Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS) sponsored the study tour.

The entire learning visit was conducted by Prof. Dr Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumdar, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Stamford University Bangladesh, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, and founding Chairman of CAPS.

Professor Dr Gulshan Ara Latifa, Academic Adviser to the Department, Assistant Professor Mahmuda Parveen, Senior Lecturer Mahmuda Islam, Lecturer Abdullah Al Naeem, Adjunct Lecturer Advocate Marufa Gulshan Ara, and Research Assistant Marziat Rahman all worked for the team in general. This educational excursion drew a total of 46 local and international students.

Students collected air, noise, and water pollution samples throughout this period and acquired knowledge about ecology, land use, and environmental change through field observation. The students noticed prior challenges in many habitats within the protected forest during this period.

At this instance, Professor Dr Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder stated that the environment is constantly damaged due to tourist negligence and irresponsibility. As a result, he urged the public to raise awareness about environmental conservation.
